The establishment of the NZSL Board

The Ministry of Social Development set up an Experts Advisory Group to initiate action regarding the promotion and maintenance of NZSL. The group was active from 2013 to 2014, and identified a work programme and priorities for consideration by Ministers.

Cabinet then agreed to the establishment of the NZSL Board, and the discussion is recorded in the Cabinet Minute.

In 2014, the Minister for Disability Issues announced that the Government had agreed with the initial priorities put forward by the NZSL Experts Advisory Group. external

A selection panel consisting of the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Education, and the Human Rights Commission chose the following eight people as members of the Experts Advisory Group.This group recommended that the NZSL Board should be established.

A cabinet paper recommended the establishment of the NZSL Board.
